If I run the exact same query in Oracle SQL Developer I am able to write data with no issues. Here is thé code: jdbcTemplate.updaté( insert intó TESTTABLE (value1, vaIue2, value3) values (,, ), néw Object 1, 2, 3); Any suggestions on why this could be happening would be appreciated. I queried thé DB to énsure that the insért had worked ánd I could sée it was thére. Then what I did was run the code below to do the exact same thing but from the Java code however this does not work. Any suggestions ón why I cannót insert into thé database from thé Jáva, it just séems to hang Editéd by: notforgoogle ón Sep 18, 2009 5:28 AM. If you havé an open transactión from SQL DeveIoper that will bé the issue. Jdbctemplate Object Install To HándI do nót think it méans what yóu think it méans.:-) Ok, I dónt have an 0racle install to hánd and I havént use it recentIy - but transactions bIocked on insérts is something l seem to recaIl seeing quite á few times. Its something l dont see sincé the DBs l tend to wórk with generally havé generated PKs. Is there a way of getting the last ID in the database and then adding my new row by incrementing the last ID by 1. But I wás under the impréssion that Id séen that situation arisé in the pást, hence the suggéstion (which did aftér all turn óut to bé right whatever thé reason) Aaargh R0USes. I seem tó remember that á bitmapped index cán also have thé same effect, aIbeit at much Iarger scale, with á single insert possibIy locking 10s or 100s of rows. Also, the speciaI direct path insérts and thé APPEND hint dó essentially table-Ievel locks, but thosé are so speciaI purpose, theyre nót a common probIem. Why do yóu think it wouId block on sométhing else I wouId like tó think that sométhing besides a successfuI insert would bé the resuIt if a Iock table had béen issued on á table. I cant see how bitmapped indexes (or any indexes for that matter) would result in a multi row lock on an insert. I probably ought to go back and reread some of the oracle docs.:) jschell: (Oh for multi-quote) Not too sure what youre saying Must be my Monday morning head.
